What working with us looks like
We coach your student through choosing the programs that fit, writing the essay each program asks for, and describing their awards, leadership and activities.
Every family starts with a free 20-minute call. We ask about your student, you ask about us, and we tell you honestly whether we think we can help. If we cannot, we will say so on that call.
- One on one, for a student who wants full attention on their own application.
- Two on one, for a student who works better alongside a partner and learns by helping them too.
- Small group of five, for a student who would rather work things out with other people in the same boat.
Sessions are online or in person at The Coder School East Cobb. You get every online meeting link, and you are welcome to sit in on any session you want.

What we wish someone had told our families
Grades are not the whole application.
The grades are a big part of the application process, but it is just a small sliver of a big pie that determines your acceptance or rejection. Magnet admission officers know about your grades and test scores by default. They want to know about you, and what truly makes you special.

Starting earlier gives you more to work with.
Eighth grade is important, but I would argue 6th and 7th have a bigger influence on applications and on growing your skill. It is better to start younger to show growth, because that is what programs are looking for.

Magnet is as demanding as it sounds, and it is not right for every student.
Magnet is really as intense as it says it is. You are not able to glide through like middle school. Determine if magnet is right for you before going.

Why student coaches

The application asks a 13 year old to explain who they are and why a program fits them. We answered those questions for programs in the same district, and we remember which parts were hard.
Hiring people who have proven they have the skills the magnet recruiters are looking for matters more than hiring someone who can teach multivariable calculus.

Everything on our Magnet Guide page comes from the Cobb County magnet application itself, and we link to the district page so you can check us. If you ask us something we do not actually know, we will say so and point you at the district.
What we do not promise
No one can guarantee admission to a magnet program. What we can do is make sure your student’s application is the strongest honest version of who they actually are.
We coach, we do not write.
We help your student find their story, structure it, and revise it. Every word submitted is your student’s own. We do not write essays and we do not submit anything on a student’s behalf.
