What we wish someone had told our families

Grades are not the whole application.

The grades are a big part of the application process, but it is just a small sliver of a big pie that determines your acceptance or rejection. Magnet admission officers know about your grades and test scores by default. They want to know about you, and what truly makes you special.

Starting earlier gives you more to work with.

Eighth grade is important, but I would argue 6th and 7th have a bigger influence on applications and on growing your skill. It is better to start younger to show growth, because that is what programs are looking for.

Magnet is as demanding as it sounds, and it is not right for every student.

Magnet is really as intense as it says it is. You are not able to glide through like middle school. Determine if magnet is right for you before going.

We use first names and last initials, and we do not post our photos. We are high school students running a business that talks to other people’s children, and our parents asked us to keep it that way. If you want to know exactly who we are before you book anything, ask on the call and we will tell you.

Why three students instead of an adult tutoring company

We went through all of this, and not 20 years ago like a parent would.

An experienced tutor can raise a math grade. That is real, and it matters. The application itself is a different job, and that is the part we focus on.

The application is a different task. It asks a 13 year old to explain what makes them worth a seat in a competitive program. We answered that question for programs in the same district, and we remember which parts were hard.

Hiring people who have proven they have the skills the magnet recruiters are looking for matters more than hiring someone who can teach multivariable calculus.

Where we send you instead of guessing

Everything on our How It Works page comes from the Cobb County magnet application itself, and we link to the district page so you can check us. If you ask us something we do not actually know, we will say so and point you at the district. We would rather be useless on one question than confidently wrong about your student’s application.

What we do not promise

No one can guarantee admission to a magnet program, and anyone who tells you otherwise is selling something. What we can do is make sure your student’s application is the strongest honest version of who they actually are.

What working with us looks like

Every family starts with a free 20-minute call. We ask about your student, you ask about us, and we tell you honestly whether we think we can help. If we cannot, we will say so on that call.

• One on one, for a student who wants full attention on their own application.
• Two on one, for a student who works better alongside a partner and learns by helping them too.
• Small group of five, for a student who would rather work things out with other people in the same boat.

All sessions are online, you get every meeting link, and you are welcome to sit in on any session you want.
